THE COMPANY:

My client, a well-established Regulatory Body based in the heart of the City, are looking for a Press Officer to join their successful team. You will be confident creating positive media for both reactive and proactive media activity. THE ROLE:
  • Writing content to a high standard; including drafting statements and writing press releases, articles and reports as well as fielding media calls.
  • Taking lead on media and PR initiatives for specific business areas.
  • To initiate and plan campaigns and stories whilst proactively identifying media opportunities and story ideas.
  • Supporting senior spokespeople within the team and across the organisation in providing clear briefings and messaging.
  • Being an active and collaborative member of a team to deal with any issues and incidents and liaise with departments.
  • To keep up to date with the latest media coverage and evaluate the information for weekly update meetings.
  • Keeping various departments and teams updated with information on the impact of campaigns and initiatives.
  • To build relationships with media contact and industry partners.
  • Provide support to senior staff with budgeting and reporting.
  • Managing media enquiries in an effective and timely way.
 
THE PERSON:

  • Experience of consumer, issues-based and B2B media relations.
  • Understanding of digital and social channels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills and confident speaker.
  • Skills and experience in working in a busy press office.
  • Experience of effectively targeting and pitching stories to journalists.
  • Able to manage multiple requests and work to deadlines.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Creative thinking combined with strong judgement.
  • Experience in monitoring and understanding the news agendas.
