Job Title: Company Secretary

Duration: Permanent position

Salary: £30K (full-time equivalent £90K)

Location: Working from home/(West London Office when they return)

About the company

My client a leading sporting body, has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Company Secretary to join them. The successful candidate will provide advice and assistance to the Board and Executive Team in relation to Company Secretarial requirements and Board governance.

This part time Company Secretarial position requires commitment to 2 full days per week. However, the client is very flexible on which days.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the smooth running of the Board's activities by assisting the Chair and Executive team to set agendas, prepare papers and ensure meetings are appropriately minuted
  • Ensuring that all Board committees are properly constituted and provided with clear terms of reference
  • Attending Board committees where required by the Chair and taking minutes
  • Acting as a primary point of contact and source of guidance in relation to governance questions and board processes for all Directors
  • Induct new Directors into the business and give clear guidance of their roles and responsibilities
  • Review all legal, regulatory and corporate governance developments that may affect the Company's operations and ensure that the Board is fully briefed on said developments
  • Compliance with all statutory filings and legal requirements affecting the governance of the company, for example: Modern Slavery, Anti-Bribery
  • Essential skills:

  • Previous experience working in a complex regulatory environment, either in a sporting or non-sporting context (ideal industries Sports/Charity, Paid TV or Financial Services)
  • The ability to articulate complex information in a succinct and clear manner
  • Excellent personal skills to confidently engage and manage multiple stakeholders to reach collective agreement, often to short deadlines
  • Excellent administrative skills to ensure that all deadlines for company and regulatory filings are met

    Beneficial skills:

  • Familiarity and understanding of Sports governance in the UK
  • Legal training or other experience working in a legal environment
