Project Manager / Consultant - long term temporary role.
- Salary: £40-50,000 depending on experience
- Working hours: 37 hrs per week
- Location: London-based, with flexible and remote working options
Our wonderful client is a busy charity that specialises in developing public service leadership through working on real issues of importance to communities.
They have an unrivalled track record in leadership development. They pioneer and champion the notion of 'place': multi-stakeholder collaboration within a locality. They design and deliver high-quality, bespoke, leadership development interventions up and down the country, equipping leaders with the skills to operate effectively across organisational, professional & geographic boundaries to tackle some of societies big issues.
They work in highly political environments to make change happen where there's no blueprint and no obvious way forward.
They are looking for an ambitious, skilled and curious project manager / consultant to join their team. As a project consultant the practical work you do spans across a number of areas:
Projects:
- Leading small to medium projects & as a team member on medium to large leadership and change projects
Learning & sharing:
- Contributing to personal, organisation and network learning
- Contributing to external communications
Growth:
- Contributing to business development
Ambassador:
- Advocating for the centre's distinctive understanding of and approach to leadership
Day to day responsibilities include:
Projects:
Leading small to medium leadership and change projects
- Co-designing with clients what success looks like, parameters for interventions and impact measures
- Curating and managing a small team from our network to deliver the projects
- Co-designing the methodology and philosophy for the project and manage the planning, delivery and budget to ensure value and impact for the client
- Developing high quality interventions and artefacts
- Developing an honest, robust and supportive, and where appropriate coaching relationship with the client
- Connecting the project into the organisational communications strategy
Teaming up on medium to large leadership and change projects
- Working as a team member of larger projects where the lead is the Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer or Director
- Undertaking research and insight generation
- Contributing to the development of high quality interventions and artefacts
- Contributing to the creation of the methodology and philosophy for the project
- Working with the project lead to ensure quality, impactful interventions within budget

- Contributing to the organisations learning, innovation, strategy formation and delivery

- Reviewing projects transparently
- Proactively deploying your creative, strategic, relational and operational talents to support team members and emerging challenges.

- Writing publication contributions, thought leadership articles and blogs, about project insights and the value of leadership and change practice
- Contributing to the design and organisation of stakeholder events bringing together people to explore the value leadership & change practice

- Building effective relationships across Government, local public services and private and voluntary sector
- Identifying opportunities that align with our purpose, values, capabilities and strategy.
- Contribute to the writing of impeccable proposals

Contributing to the reputation and profile of the Centre
- Developing networks through which the Centre's work can be recognised and promoted
- Attending meetings, events and conferences at which the Centre's contribution can be shared

You love to work in complex, multi-stakeholder, multi-faceted projects, demonstrating high levels of curiosity, discretion and resourcefulness. You are keen to keep developing & pushing our practice so that the Leadership Centre remains responsive, nimble and cutting edge.

- A project leader, including: managing small teams, finding creative ways to solve challenges, meeting objectives, reporting and monitoring, budget management, managing risk and managing communications

- Naturally creative approach to developing aesthetic appeal, functionality and usability of project interventions and artefacts.
- Impeccable attention to detail & highly organised
- Technology savvy including:
- Platforms: Mac & PC
- Online video workshopping: MS Teams, Zoom
- Content creation & management: Google docs, MS Office, Pages, Photoshop, WordPress.
- Online collaboration tools: Mural, Miro.
- Used to working in changing environments.
Specific Experience:
Ideally you will have direct experience of working in one or more of the Leadership Centre's core stakeholder groups:
- Public services - any or all of National Government, Civil Service, local gov, NHS & health, blue lights services etc
- Working with senior politicians and public service officers
