Executive Assistant to Secretary General

London / Remote

£30,000 p.a.

12m contract, potential to become permanent

Start Date - February 2022


The Role

This is a critical new role to support the Secretary General. You will be joining a dynamic, innovative team and working with some of the UK’s most well-known companies, government and Parliament at a critical crossroads for UK trade relations.



ICC is the largest world business organisation, representing 45 million companies of all sizes and sectors in over 100 countries, providing a voice for business at inter-governmental level.


Key Responsibilities

Support to Secretary General (85%)

  • Provide a professional ‘go to’ public interface and assist in managing client, partner and network relations, including co-ordinating and delivering a monthly ‘ICC Highlights’ newsletter
  • Help identify speakers and put agendas together
  • Provide assistance to launch, roll out and deliver strategic projects including an office move, digital trade policy projects, parliamentary activities and inputting into external sales and marketing materials
  • Ensure KPI reports are up to date and coordinate the delivery of timely KPI reports

Corporate Governance (10%)

  • Coordinate the successful delivery of 3 annual board meetings including agendas, papers, minutes, actions and practical support
  • Coordinate the timely delivery of the ICC Annual General Meeting (AGM) agendas, minutes, Annual Report, Finance Report and voting
  • Manage Companies House paperwork regarding new Board members and retiring Board members including AP01, TM01 and CS01 forms

Office Management (5%)

  • Manage supplier relations including cleaning, HR, recycling, security, IT services and the procurement of high value equipment
  • Adhere to financial protocols, systems and approvals
  • Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of ICC products and services, and existing/future customers


Candidate Requirements 


  • Graduated to degree level (2.1 and above) or equivalent
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with C/B-suite
  • A natural commercially-minded individual – seeking to drive revenue and deliver value with a desire to meet and exceed targets
  • A ‘can do’, positive personality, un-phased by obstacles and able to take the initiative to provide creative solutions
  • Experience in multi-tasking projects and comfortable in a demanding, fast-paced environment with hard deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to simplify complex information into plain English
  • An interest in international business and/or international trade
  • High levels of proofreading skills and an eye for detail
  • A team player and able to operate autonomously without close supervision
  • Experience using virtual platforms such as zoom webinars, swapcard, Microsoft teams
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft office (excel, word, powerpoint)


  • Experience working within a not-for-profit/membership organisation
  • A working knowledge of Infusionsoft/Keap database or equivalent
  • Professional training and/or proven experience in the commercial use of Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media platforms for sales and marketing
  • Knowledge of proven service improvement techniques – GAPS analysis etc…
  • Languages

International Travel

You may be required to travel to global forums or visit other ICC offices and the ICC Secretariat.



  • 10% annual discretionary performance bonus – agreed at end of year, provided in Feb/Mar the following year
