Leading City law firm is looking to hire a Legal Team Assistant to join their rapidly expanding Property team on a permanent basis.  You will be mostly providing support to their Residential Property team however you will also be providing additional support to their Real Estate team also.

Responsibilities will be wide ranging from Ordering and raising pre-contract searches and enquiries on both residential and commercial transactions, creating and amending legal documents (e.g. contracts and TR1s), undertaking pre-completion searches to include OS1/OS2/Bankruptcy searches, dealing with the post completion aspects of transactions including SDLT, Land Registry Forms and notices of transfer of charges, dealing with requisitions raised by the Land Registry with the assistance of the fee-earner where necessary, checking correspondence, attachments and documents produced by the Document Production team, answering external and internal calls and ensuring accurate messages are taken, updating clients and agents as far as is appropriate, request cheques, TT/BACS transfers and pay in monies received as appropriate, prepare and submit expense claims for fee earners, opening and closing files based on instructions from fee earners, undertake general administration tasks, undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Team Leader or fee-earners in order to meet the needs of the business, working as part of a team to ensure that effective cover is maintained at all times.  The hours are 9am – 5pm or 9.30am – 5.30pm. 

Experience and knowledge

  • Previous Legal Secretary/Team Assistant experience gained from a reputable law firm
  • Experience in Residential Property is essential
  • Experience in Commercial Property will also be considered
  • Knowledge of Property processes and procedures
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and strong IT literacy
