Please note the location for this position is flexible but some travel to Head Office in London will be required at times.

Your key responsibilities...

  • Lead complex ad hoc projects and act as Senior Responsible Officer
  • Ensure that Board, Committee and Advisory Group decisions are recorded accurately within minutes and reports
  • Pursue follow-up actions & reporting on matters arising from executive management meetings & working groups
  • Lead on Cygnet’s legal arrangements & deal with sensitive legal matters on behalf of the Board
  • Oversee the freedom to speak up & whistleblowing processes & circulate to staff
  • Provide advice & support to colleagues & produce Board briefings for staff circulation
  • Ensure delivery of induction & development programmes for Board, Committee & Advisory Group members
  • Oversee a programme of regular review and evaluation of Board performance
  • Act as a key point of contact for communication between the Board and its stakeholders
  • Ensure the Board takes full account of community & stakeholder views in its decision-making
  • Working with the Head of Communications, have oversight of media & press enquiries, with particular focus on protecting the reputation of the company.

We are seeking someone with…

  • Extensive Board Secretary experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication & influencing skills
  • Strong leadership skills & the ability to inspire
  • Commercial & business insight, including creating & managing budgets
  • Experience in dealing with complex & demanding deadlines
  • An in-depth understanding of regulatory compliance & regulated organisations
  • The ability to design, plan, write & implement operational plans
  • Integrity, objectivity & ability to challenge at all levels
  • The expertise to undertake benchmarking processes & create policies
  • Educated to master’s degree level or equivalent, or with equivalent senior level experience
  • Membership of a professional body such as the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators (ICSA) or the Institute of Health Management (IHM).
