My client, a Landscape Architect based in Fulham is looking for a Top Garden Designer/Assistant to join on a contract basis with a view to going permanent. Your main responsibilities will be to ensure the smooth running of the company by assisting with the following responsibilities.
Design-related
- Survey garden if needed
- Create 3D models and PDF’s of projects in SketchUp and Layout from a survey or DWG
- Draft/create other documents:
- Take minutes on calls/site meetings
- Prepare and maintain schedules of work and specifications for individual projects
- Generate weekly agendas
- Share update on work schedule
- Proactively manage workload and enhance efficiency with administrative tasks
- Manage image library and file organisation
- Diarise Zoom and meeting calls with clients
- Research and source high quality, good value garden design materials from suppliers
- Place and confirm orders with suppliers and nurseries
- Oversee the smooth running of projects in co-ordination with landscape contractors
- Help out with any ad hoc jobs
- Ensure Health & Safety, CDM regulations and COVID liabilities are being considered and meet.
PR related
- Ensure the website is up to date with photographs of recent projects
- Liaise with photographers to visit projects
- Develop relationships with key journalists (House & Garden, Town & Country, Country Life, Gardens Illustrated, Telegraph)
- Approach journalists with ideas for articles featuring projects run by the organisation
- Draft email updates to list of contacts
General
- Meet the clients’ needs and always aim to deliver a high standard of service
- Be commercially minded, weighing up the value of service in return for high-quality results
- Further develop and broaden garden design skills with additional training if needed
Design-related
- Survey garden if needed

- Fee proposal Letters
- Mood boards and imagery presentation
- Scope of Works (Excel)
- Design detailing: planting plans, plant schedules & construction details in CAD
- Tender documents for landscapers to price from
- Take minutes on calls/site meetings
- Prepare and maintain schedules of work and specifications for individual projects
- Generate weekly agendas
- Share update on work schedule
- Proactively manage workload and enhance efficiency with administrative tasks
- Manage image library and file organisation
