Propel Finance is a disruptive challenger in Asset Finance, owned by Private Equity and led by a new and dynamic executive management team. We are a market leader in vendor finance, with outstanding technology and service offerings, supporting equipment suppliers across the UK with bespoke finance programmes. With regionally based direct customer asset finance offering, we plan to expand aggressively, currently supporting approximately 40,000 SMEs, growing at 10,000 per annum. We are a multi-award-winning business, growing revenues at 20% pa, with plans to double origination and balance sheet over the next 3 years.

The Role

As the HR Business Partner, you will lead our HR function, operating across multiple levels, with a broad scope covering generalist HR and HR project work from inception to delivery. With a good grounding and structure embedded, you will have the autonomy to tackle the key deliverables and, in the future, scope the people strategy.

It's a generalist role so no two days will look the same. We have two offices in Newport and Manchester plus a remote, national-based workforce. As well as overseeing the smooth operations of the function you'll also need to drive key deliverables around Line Manager self-service; looking at how you can coach and upskill the management population, giving them the confidence to tackle their challenges, using the HR team as a point of expertise.

Reporting directly into the COO, you'll provide steer and guidance at all levels, underpinned by a commercial acumen. You'll be confident to present to the board on all people matters.

We work in partnership with an RPO provider who manages the day-to-day recruitment activity, meaning you can focus on all other aspects of HR, including L&D.

Key Responsibilities

Drive delivery of the People Strategy, developing the maturity of the existing HR function and the service it provides to the business
Understand and interpret HR needs in each department and provide advice from a commercial perspective
Develop and sustain productive relationships with key stakeholders to become a trusted advisor on all HR matters
Support the coaching and upskilling of line managers in the development of their people management skills including companywide adoption of our PeopleHR system
Report out on key HR metrics to the Executive Committee on a monthly
Create meaningful impact in priority areas such as talent retention, attrition, and employee engagement
Manage the L&D and Recruitment Budget
Coach and mentor members of the HR team

Essential Skills & Experience

To thrive in this role, you will be a true people person, someone who can build credible relationships from day one and put colleague and employee experience at the heart of everything you do. You'll be used to working autonomously and have the confidence to make decisions and deliver on promises. In addition to this, we're also looking for:

CIPD Level 7 and current CIPD member - you'll be able to apply HR in a practical, pragmatic, and commercial way
Strong problem solving "can do" attitude - Propel is a pacey business so you'll be someone who can embrace change
Ability to coach and guide the HR service delivery team, ensuring high standards consistently
Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills - you'll be hands on, and have one eye on the future so your ability to manage multiple priorities will be paramount
Able to deliver verbal and written communications, including presentations, with an impeccable eye for detail
