We have a great opportunity for an experienced HR Policy Manager to join a key player in the financial services industry. As an organisation it is currently undergoing huge transformation to make the business fit for purpose and offer a strong customer focussed approach. The role is responsible for the direction, development and implementation of employment policies across all business areas to ensure strategic and cultural fit for the organisation, as well as compliance with employment legislation & regulatory requirements and broad alignment to market practice.
The role will lead the HR Policy Team and will report into the Head of Industrial Relations & HR Policy.
This is an exciting time to join the organisation with a wide range of business change and market conditions to navigate and build direction and development of HR Policy. Solid experience as a HR Policy Manager in a global, matrix and regulated environment with significant Unions experience will be required.
Key focus areas:
- Together with ER, Policy & Change Director, determine People Policy priorities and activities.
- Provide leadership and direction for the HR Policy Team.
- Develop and maintain ER owned HR People Policies and supporting documentation.
- Monitor employment law and case law developments.
- Lead union consultation on the introduction of new and revised policies, maintaining excellent relationships between recognised Trade Unions and the Policy Team, and responding to People Policy feedback and issues.
- Review People Policies regularly to determine opportunities.
- Project manage the harmonisation and alignment of employment policies to achieve a consistent set of People Policies replacing heritage arrangements.
- Ensure new and revised policies are effectively communicated to the business and ensure content on the HR Portal promotes HR policies and supports colleague interaction with policy information.
This role will require:
- Significant experience of employment policy development, preferably with experience of running a policy function in a large organisation
- Ability to build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders, combined with the ability and credibility to influence
- Significant experience of consultation with recognised Trade Unions, with well-honed negotiation skills
- Strong people management skills, gained through managing and developing teams
- Experience of managing large projects/programmes
- Excellent written communication skills including presentations, briefs and reports for senior stakeholders
- Ability to plan, organise and multi-task to deliver a high workload in a pacey environment
