Manchester city centre, with flexible / remote working options available

We're looking for a finance administrator to join us and support accounting and reporting in our stock and margin team. This is a fast-paced role in which you'll work closely with colleagues across our logistics network and finance teams, as well as have a unique opportunity to gain fantastic exposure and experience to help you build your skills in accounting.

As a finance administrator, you'll make sure that strong financial controls are maintained in the processing of stock and duty transactions, as well as generate simple, meaningful management information that can be used by the wider finance and the operational teams. Maybe you've started working towards an accounting qualification, or maybe you have some accounting experience; either way, if you have the great communications skills and drive to learn that we're looking for, this role will help you grow and prepare you for the next step in your accounting career.

What you'll do

• produce and analyse weekly depot leakage reports to support decision making on stock profit/loss
• produce timely and accurate investment income reports and analysis to enable a clear understanding of material gains and losses made on individual stock lines, making sure that corrective actions are taken
• pricing analysis of stock, making sure supplier cost price and bill price to stores result in correct valuation of stock in depot
• monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring financial control and integrity of related balances
• stock reconciliations performed between our warehouse management system and internal financial systems
• operate key duty processes to make sure that all daily tasks can be covered across the working week including Sunday
• work collaboratively with store stock teams to resolve stock queries
• support our SAP stock implementation, supporting a seamless transition from legacy system to new ways of working

This role would suit people who have

• a good understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, either through previous experience or you're working towards an accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or equivalent
• intermediate Excel skills; you can confidently work with pivot tables, VLOOKUP and other formulas
• strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyse large data sets to spot issues, trends and opportunities for improvement
• good communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues and teams
• a keen eye for detail and accuracy
• great organisational skills, with the ability to work towards tight deadlines
• knowledge or experience working with SAP would be beneficial, but not essential

Why Co-op?

Here you'll do work that matters. We're a commercial organisation with a purpose beyond profit, you'll have an opportunity to help us build a stronger Co-op and stronger communities. You'll also get a package that includes:

• competitive salary
• coaching, training and support to help you develop
• pension with up to 10% employer contributions
• annual incentive scheme
• 28 days holiday (rising to 32 in line with service)
• discounts on Co-op products and services

Building an inclusive work environment

We're actively building diverse teams and welcome applications from everyone. But simply having a diverse workforce is not enough. We aim to build an inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. We celebrate our differences and recognise the importance of teams reflecting the communities they serve.

We can make reasonable adjustments to our interview process according to your needs. And we offer a flexible working environment, so you can adjust your hours to suit your personal circumstances. You can find out more about Co-op people policies at colleagues.coop.co.uk.

As part of your application you'll need to complete an online assessment. It will take you around 12 minutes to complete this test.
