We are recruiting for a role in the family office of a private investment vehicle, with a focus on financial technology, asset management and real estate. The Founder is a well-known figure in the London hedge fund market, having previously founded and ran a $6bn+ hedge fund.
We are seeking an outstanding Private Chief of Staff to work as part of the family office team. The role will stretch across a range of responsibilities and require a combination of managerial experience (both people and projects), financial and commercial acumen, and hands-on support on a number of ad hoc private matters.
You will be responsible for all logistical, household and lifestyle asset staffing, and project work for the family, and will work closely with the family office finance team to implement and ensure cost control of the family’s households and key assets.
The successful candidate will be extremely organised with high EQ and experience dealing with UHNWIs and their families. You will be an intellectually strong, commercially minded, flexible, positive and motivated individual with a can-do attitude and a deep commitment to finding solutions. Confidence, gravitas, sensitivity and self-assurance are fundamental to this role. Ideally, you will come from a family office background, have experience of and enjoy managing household staff and suppliers, be numerate and willing to roll your sleeves up and turn your hand to anything from booking a taxi to undertaking cost analysis.
You will be based at offices in central London, with some time spent at the family’s properties (in and around London). In addition, some travel will be required with regard to overseas projects and assets. Working from home should also be possible for at least one day per week.
Hours: Full time
Location: Family Office in Central London, family home in North London and remotely from your own home
Salary: Generous salary package (dependent upon experience) and generous performance based bonus

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Ensuring the smooth running of various lifestyle assets and liaising closely with the associated staff and the family.
- Project managing a variety of ad hoc projects that may arise, including liaising with local teams on the ground, with key suppliers and where necessary, professional advisers, ensuring timely and efficient delivery whilst overseeing cost control.
- Recruiting and managing the personal/household staff, including conducting interviews, drafting contracts and conducting annual reviews.
- Liaising with the personal/household staff on day-to-day matters ensuring good communication between all stakeholders.
- Maximising and owning opportunities for revenue creation, including through the rental of key lifestyle assets.
- Liaising with family members on a range of day-to-day issues, including personal support to the founder’s wife on projects and more general administrative tasks.
- Working closely with the finance team to input to annual budgeting, and to ensure secure and practical authorisation processes and clear sharing of information as appropriate.
- Implementing systems for documenting staff spending, cost control procedures and reviewing budgets.
Candidates must be / have:
- An excellent communicator, with a robust but empathetic approach.
- Extremely organized, responsive and able to prioritize tasks efficiently in time pressured environments.
- Experience of working with UHNWIs and their advisers, as well as demonstrable evidence of developing strong interpersonal relationships at all levels.
- Numerate with good commercial awareness.
- A strong sense of values – including integrity, discretion, diplomacy, sensitivity and tolerance.
- A “can-do” attitude, excellent problem-solving, with negotiation and creative skills
- A positive, calm, motivated and low ego individual with a measured and professional approach, who can quickly adapt to an entrepreneurial environment where teamwork, agility and a solution led approach is absolutely key.
