The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) have an exciting opportunity for a Project Support Officer to provide IT administrative support whilst gaining valuable experience in IT Project Management within a world-leading government body.

CMA promotes competition for the benefit of consumers, both within and outside the UK. Our aim is to make markets work well for consumers, businesses and the economy. To achieve this it is essential we have an efficient and effective IT service. As a Project Support Officer, you will work with colleagues across Information Technology and Business Services (ITBS), to implement our required project governance standards and procedures, enabling CMA to be a high performing organisation.

Specific responsibilities of the Project Support Officer role will include:

- Working with Project Managers and workstream leaders to update project documents such as:

  • Risks, Assumptions Issues and Dependencies log (RAID)
  • Exception and Change reports
  • Recourse Planner
  • Project Timelines
  • Organise fortnightly project review meetings and taking actions and ensure they are followed up

- Raising Purchase Orders and ensuring that suppliers invoices are authorised, and goods receipted.

- Administering change control/exception procedures ensuring changes are reviewed and authorised before being implemented.

- Providing administrative support to the Project Management Office for a variety of activities and work on ad hoc tasks as directed.

For the right candidate, in time there will also be the possibility of project managing small/low risk IT projects.

To be successful in your application you will need to demonstrate examples of providing project administrative support (ideally with an IT area) and effective communication and strong numerical capability, including understanding and interpreting with financial and numerical datasets.
