This West End, full-service law firm has been established over the past 40 years a varied practice with a range of private limited company, charitable and high net worth private clients who expect a sophisticated and polished service from all members of the firm, from fee earners, paralegals, secretaries and receptionists.
They are looking for an experienced litigation secretary with at least 3 or more years’ experience assisting a London (preferably West End or City) litigation/dispute resolution department in contentious matters of all sizes and levels of complexity, who is motivated, cheerful and willing to assist fee earners proactively and become an integral member of the department.
Key Skills and Competencies
Willingness to go above and beyond what is required in assisting with the effective running of a busy department;
Proactive response to fee earners’ fluctuating workloads;
Excellent filing, file management and office organisation capabilities;
Document production tasks: using appropriate software and available resources including typing from audio or manuscript using house style documents and non-house style, where required;
Excellent dictation and transcription skills;
Strong proof reading skills along with excellent spelling and grammar;
Liaising with Counsel’s clerks;
Organising trial bundles with fee earners/partners;
Answering internal and client calls in a timely, helpful manner and passing on accurate messages as required;
Personable and friendly phone manner; liaising with clients in a confident and professional manner;
Flexibility in supporting fellow secretaries;
Booking meetings, arranging conference calls and assisting the smooth running of the office generally in order to maximise the efficient-running of the Dispute Resolution Department;
Managing fee earners’ calendars;
Updating fee earners time on the billing system (Partner), drafting and finalising bills to clients, requesting cheques and BACs payments and posting monies in;
Opening new client files/matters;
General office duties (filing, photocopying, scanning and faxing);
Booking couriers;
Arranging departmental and inter-departmental meetings;
Supporting vacation and work experience students navigating the office and assisting the Department;
Hours are 9.30am to 5.30pm
