We are recruiting for an organisation based in central London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a Head of Grants role

The role will include:

Grants Operations

  • To ensure that the delivery of grants programmes, business process and the associated pre and post award documentation are updated and standardised across all grants programmes and teams as appropriate.
  • To oversee the maintenance and further development of the Flexi-Grant system with the support of the Senior Manager Grants Operations and ensure that members of the Grants Team are appropriately trained in use of the system.
  • Working with other funders and relevant organisations to ensure that best practice policies and procedures have been developed and implemented.
  • Chairing the Senior Managers Operations meetings, to lead on the development of projects to implement improved and standardised operating procedures within the section.

Impact and Promotion

  • To oversee the evaluation programme and ensure that recommendations are implemented and that changes to the programmes are appropriately managed.
  • To support the development of a communications strategy to improve dissemination of evidence that demonstrates the value and impact of funding
  • To develop activities to increase applications from under-represented groups and promote diversity across the organisations grants programmes.
  • To oversee systems for capturing and monitoring defined outputs and outcomes deriving from the funding schemes, to maintain and develop the evaluation framework and to lead on its implementation.

Governance of the Grants Team

  • To coordinate membership of the Committees across the Grants Team. Liaising with the Council and Fellowship office to ensure that Grants Committees are appropriately constituted.
  • To act as secretary to the Grants Committee managing the business of the Grants Committee and ensure appropriate reporting to Council.
  • To ensure that all grants are appropriately approved through the Grants Committee and that grants payments are subject to proper controls and are appropriately authorised.
  • To ensure that proper administrative records are maintained for legal and historical purposes.
  • To ensure that all external partnership and funding arrangements of the Grants Team are appropriate and supported by suitable agreements or contracts.

Audit and Compliance

  • To work with internal auditors to ensure that the Audit and Compliance framework is fit for purpose and to provide reports as required on audit activity to the Audit Committee.
  • To manage the delivery of the Grants Team's Audit and Compliance programme with a particular focus on the international programmes.
  • To oversee the Audit programme with the support of the Senior Manager Grants Operations to ensure that grant holders are complying standard conditions of award and appropriate financial management of grants by host institutions.
