Join us as Head of EUIT Business Management and you will contribute to the development of new approaches and policies affecting millions of people across the country. This is a career-defining opportunity that offers networking and professional development.

Working within the EU International Trade (EUIT) directorate, as Head of EUIT Business Management, you will be at the helm of the three teams who provide administrative, support and portfolio management services to one of the biggest and fastest-growing departments in the organisation.

The three teams that you will be leading are:

  2. Director and Deputy Director Support – providing ‘private office’ support to two Directors and their nine Deputies.
  3. Portfolio management – providing projects reporting and design. Managing any inter-dependencies between these programmes, this team also provide secretariat support to a strategic departmental board.

Across these three teams, you will:

  • Line manage two grade 7 Senior Team Leaders, and a wider team of around 30 people, ensuring high-quality services are being provided to the directorate’s 400+ colleagues, and that shared goals are being met.
  • Build strong networks and relationships with the view to creating communities that will support Defra’s aims. As such, you will establish connections with internal and external stakeholders, including those in other government departments and industry professionals.
  • Coordinate strategies on a wide range of issues, garnering support from your team of experts to ensure your objectives are successfully met.
  • Identify potential risks before they become a problem, planning how you will respond to or counteract these challenges.

As Head of EUIT Business Management, you will likely be a highly organised individual, with a background in leading and improving administrative or private office teams.
