Work for this enterprising and prestigious mid-sized Law firm as a Junior Legal Secretary, where you will be supporting the PA’s and Fee Earners within Disputes, ensuring they receive an efficient and quality service. You will be an integral part of the team where you will be a key lynchpin and highly valued. The Junior Legal Secretary will need to be able to prioritise busy workloads and work to deadlines as well as being able to display strong communication skills and an aptitude for learning new tasks. The role is very diverse and interesting and will suit candidates who are willing to learn and develop their Legal Secretarial career.

As a Junior Legal Secretary, you will be responsible for:

  • Taking full responsibility of essential administrative duties that will assist the wider department
  • Assisting the Fee Earners with secretarial and administrative duties including typing of correspondence
  • Billing - assisting with the preparation of billing information and reporting
  • Maintaining and updating the client database
  • Establishing and maintaining effective and accurate filing systems (hard copy and electronic)
  • Dealing with incoming and outgoing mail
  • Information - preparing client files, document packs and bundles.  Labelling, indexing, binding or collating as required by the stakeholders
  • Providing assistance with photocopying, archiving, confidential shredding, photocopying, scanning tasks and monitoring hardware such as printers and photocopiers to ensure paper and toner is replenished and that all technical faults are fixed in a timely manner
  • Completing conflict checks and coordinating money laundering and client ID checks

Personal Competencies:

You will need to be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and integrate effectively with the wider team, with previous administrative experience gained either in the legal or professional services arena and be able to work in a timely manner. You will also have:

  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s Grade C or Above or equivalent
  • CILEx qualifications or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • An understanding of working in a professional, service-driven environment
  • A ‘can do’ and proactive attitude
  • A strong team player
