Creative Design Manager

12 month initial contract with a view of becoming permanent

Monday – Friday 09.30-5.30

£60,000 per annum + excellent bonus and perks

Situated in beautiful offices in the heart of the City, our client, a well-known global Law firm is currently recruiting for a talented in-house Creative Design Manager within their friendly and thriving Creative Services team. This is a brand new position where the successful candidate will be overseeing a small team of a Junior Designer and a Freelancer, managing a design project and brand refresh.

The firm has a large marketing and business development function within which you will be based. The individual must demonstrate creative flair, be an enthusiastic team player, and possess strong conceptual and design skills, with the ability to manage several projects at once. You will be expected to advise the client and implement the best solutions to their creative visual and digital communication needs. You will possess a natural skill in graphic design and desktop publishing – being the direct manager to a strong and skilled team. 

This is an initial 12-month contract position, but the firm will consider offering a permanent contract at the end of this term for the right candidate. 

With an industry knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite, this is a fast-paced role dealing with a variety of marketing and commercial print projects. Working on projects such as brochures, promotional literature, advertising, branding documents, microsites and HTML emails. Key Tasks

  • Planning and scheduling production ensuring the optimum use of all company resources
  • Managing the Client’s and internal Project Lead’s delivery expectations
  • Providing creative input for web-based designs for microsites, emails and flash animation e-cards 
  • Re-touching and correction of old/damaged prints/photos, photo/image enhancement techniques.
  • Managing and developing the Junior Designer
  • Support the Head of Marketing & Communications to promote the brand principles firm-wide, monitoring brand usage and maintaining brand guidelines
  • Ensuring that Jobs/Projects are delivered on time and trafficking work through the studio
  • Supporting the business to manage and deliver Client work right first time on time
  • Monitoring projects to ensure they are delivered on time to specification
  • Delivering excellent customer service to clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Keeping abreast of technology both in graphics production (print, inks and colour) and digital environments

Person Specification

  • Excellent MS Office skills
  • ADOBE 8 (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Professional, InDesign)
  • Experience with MACROMEDIA CS2 would be advantageous
  • Digital illustration, Image manipulation/touch-ups - Senior level
  • Experienced with working with animation and video editing software
  • A minimum of 5 years graphic design experience, preferably with some gained working in a creative agency.
  • Highly organised with a logical and methodical person who possesses a creative thought process
  • Excellent communication skills, articulate, personable and confident
  • A keen eye for detail with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of design and production across printed and digital disciplines
  • Experience working within a similar role and working within a client services environment
  • Calm and mature personality with the ability to work both on own initiative and in a team environment, often under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Experienced leading a team and takes a collaborative, proactive approach
