The Firm are seeking to recruit a secretary into the Property Risk Solutions team on a 12 month fixed term contract. The team is expanding but currently in Birmingham comprises 90 fee earners including 3 partners and 6 associates. The support team includes 3 secretaries and 4 administrators and 2 MI and Billing Coordinators.

Working as part of a team, you will be required to provide an excellent standard of secretarial support to the Property Risk Solutions team. You will also be required to provide support across other practice groups as and when required. 

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare correspondence and documents from digital dictation
• Prepare document bundles
• Prepare and create client reports
• File correspondence and relevant documentation retained in client files
• Manage the case management system 
• Record and manage time and billing on behalf of the fee earner
• Manage the diary and book in day to day appointments
• Manage and book travel arrangements
• Maintain a level of knowledge required for the role both individually and for the team
• Help maintain a clean office and clear desk
• Handle confidential information in line with the firms data security protocols

Key skills

• Previous legal secretarial experience essential. Experience of working in litigation would be beneficial
• Qualified to a minimum of 5 GCSEs (including a grade C in English and Maths) or equivalent
• A secretarial NVQ / Diploma or equivalent would be beneficial but is not essential
• Must have good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft packages
• An excellent eye for detail with a concern for quality and accuracy
• A focused client service approach
• Team oriented and collaborative with a flexible, can do attitude
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing
• Demonstrable ability to multitask and prioritise a full workload under pressure and the ability to work independently

The team

Our Property Risk Solutions Team advises many leading insurers and corporates on all aspects of property insurance claims. The team in the Bristol office handles subrogated recovery claims, property liability claims as well as advising on policy coverage and fraud. The claims are varied but typically arise out of fire, subsidence, flood, impact and product liability. The team also handles marine claims.
