London based AJ100 architectural practice, who are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join their team. This practice has created some of the world’s most iconic buildings. You will be part of a 200-strong team, this will suit someone with a creative edge who is used to working with senior members of staff.

Assisting with employee relations and performance management is also a vital part of this role, from disciplinary to grievance processes and performance to capability assessments. Overall, the HR advisor is responsible for anything to do with HR, ensuring all policies are consistent and that all HR queries are dealt with promptly and reliably.

Your responsibilities as the HR advisor will include:

  • Dealing with various HR queries throughout the business
  • Monitoring, reviewing and updating all HR policies and ensuring these are in line with the current legislation
  • Informing employees of their rights and entitlements and keeping them up to date on any changes that are made
  • Managing staff relationships, responding to any queries or problems that they have and managing their expectations 
  • Handling HR matters reliably and in accordance with legal requirements
  • Supporting the HR manager with various capability investigations, including grievance and disciplinary
  • Assisting with and developing on any recruitment campaigns
  • Driving the business performance in relation to the organisation’s objectives
  • Partnering with line managers to review employee relations, performance management, resourcing and staff management

HR Advisor skills and competencies

HR Advisors should be qualified to degree level or above and will have a CIPD certificate. Interpersonal skills and being a team player are absolute musts, as you will work with a number of people at all levels across the business. Self-confidence and being persuasive are important soft skills to have, as well as knowledge of HR systems.

HR advisors will be expected to be proficient in the following:

  • Organisational and administrative skills 
  • Experience in an HR environment 
  • Advising and working with senior members of staff
  • IT programmes and HR systems 
  • Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels of the business
  • Driven and determined
  • CIPD qualified 
  • Practical and logical; able to solve problems quickly
