Our client is currently seeking an experienced HR Advisor who is ready to join a dynamic team in one of the top Federations in the country. The HR Departments collaborative and friendly staff are renowned within the academy for providing an outstanding service. RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Act as main point of contact for employees, providing advisory service to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), line managers and employees on all HR and employee relations issues, in line with current UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Ability to lead on investigations and hearings ensuring processes and procedures comply with the Federation policies and employment legislation and good HR practice.
  • Assist with the recruitment and selection of staff including, organising interviews through to the administration of bringing in the new employee, including induction and INSET days
  • Coordinating performance management and training development plans to support the high performing culture
  • Contribute to the delivery of the HR plans via projects/organisational goals
  • Proactively support the delivery of HR processes’, procedures and policies
  • Maintaining the database
  • Management of fixed term contracts, staff handbook, policy update
  • Ensure that payroll is advised (in a timely manner) of any pay changes such as starters and leavers notification, maternity and paternity leave etc.
  • Ensuring all staff records and staff information on HR systems are accurate, updated promptly and maintained in a confidential manner, complying with Data Protection Act and working with the Data Manager in completing the School Workforce Census accurately and on time
  • Carry out exit interviews and ensure that leavers are processed accurately
  • Monitoring the probation process, supporting managers and producing letters
  • Produce and prepare HR reports and documentation
  • Pre-employment and safeguarding checks for new starters.
  • Recruitment and selection of staff, including the production of job descriptions, placing adverts, organising interviews through to the administration of bringing in the new employee, including actioning DBS checks and INSET and induction arrangements
  • Keeping up to date with employment law and academy policy and applying provisions regarding (for example) working conditions, disciplinary and grievance procedures, equal opportunities, benefits, parental leave rights
  • Keeping accurate records to ensure that Child Protection and Designated Safeguarding training is up to date
  • Flexibility to travel between sites when required

  • To comply with any reasonable request from a line manager to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Significant experience of operational HR
  • Experience in a similar role and thorough knowledge of employee relations
  • Experience of working in a fast pace environment
  • Sound knowledge of the recruitment and performance management process and best practice
  • An understanding, and preferably experience of, HR in the education sector
  • Up to date knowledge of UK  employment law
  • Excellent written and verbal and numeracy skills
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritise work
  • Understand and comply with procedures and legislation relating to confidentiality and Data Protection [GDPR]
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team, contributing to department
  • Experience of OFSTED inspection preparation
  • Ability to deal with ER issues confidently and independently
  • Ability of undertaking the full recruitment process in for large amounts of varied recruitment with precision
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with all the other staff in the wider HR/Finance team to ensure the delivery of an effective service

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • HR degree (desirable but not essential)
  • CIPD qualified
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
