A fantastic long-‐term opportunity for an experienced, hardworking, energetic couple to manage a stunning newly refurbished property and small rural equestrian estate livery-‐yard in Cornwall.
One half of the couple will have general handyman skills and be responsible for the physical role of maintaining the equestrian estate (stables, buildings, rings, paddocks, cross country course etc.) as well as looking after the domestic garden to a very high standard. Must be comfortable working alone or as part of the equestrian team and be responsible for maintaining an exceptional property to an exceptional standard.
The housekeeping element of the role encompasses all that is usually expected including all cleaning and laundry for a three-‐bedroom house and the three bed and breakfast apartment cottages. You will be responsible for the upkeep of the home and the guest accommodation to a high standard you should be organized proactive and run the house efficiently.
The ability to help with some aspects of the administration elements of the Livery Yard and the Bed and Breakfast accommodation would be an advantage. Some cooking skills are required for both the owner’s family and the Bed and Breakfast units. Good home cooking rather than the skills of a Michelin star chef are preferred.
Both parties are expected to be exceptionally organized, methodical and tidy in all aspects of their work.
Duties to include:
- Housekeeping of the three bedroom owners property and the bed and breakfast units to a high standard including cleaning, washing, ironing and shopping for groceries
- Some cooking skills are required preparing breakfast for the bed and breakfast units as well as some cooking for the owner and the owners parents when they are visiting
- Planning meals and shopping for the household
- Taking the owners parents to appointments, clubs and meetings as required (vehicle provided)
- General property, farm building and garden maintenance, to include
painting, fencing, basic carpentry, mowing lawns, hedging, maintaining ponds and planting and harvesting of vegetables to be used in cooking for both family and guests
- Managing biomass heating system, ground water purification system and preparing the main fire in the house in winter
Additional duties involve being responsible for the security of the property (particularly while the Owner is away). On some occasions you will be required to care for the owners dogs and other small pets.
This is a full time position where some weekend work will be required.
Accommodation
Accommodation provided consisting of a beautiful three-‐bedroom barn conversion adjacent to the owner’s property. A couple with children, pets and horse would be welcome. Flexibility in roles would allow work to be scheduled around the couple’s family commitments.
Start Date As soon as possible
Days of Work Flexible to fit in with B&B requirements. Salary based on an average of 45 hrs. per week per person. Days off during the week when weekend working required.
Holidays Driving 5 Weeks per year (two weeks max at any one time) Both required to drive. Full UK driving licenses required
Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 2 years relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay
