The Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) is the professional body which ensures the quality of patient care through the maintenance of standards in anaesthesia, critical care and pain medicine across the UK. Anaesthesia is the UK’s single largest hospital specialty, playing a critical role in the care of two-thirds of all hospital patients. With a combined membership of over 21,500 Members and Fellows, including our Faculties of Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Medicine, the RCoA is the third largest Medical Royal College by UK membership.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the College at a key moment in its development. The organisation is undergoing a period of exciting growth and change including a new governance structure, which you will be responsible for supporting the development of.
You will be responsible for the day to day management and running of the President’s Office ensuring the President is able to carry out their duties. You will be responsible for managing and supporting Council and Board of Trustees’ meetings and other meetings involving the President and Vice-Presidents, and will play a key role in a busy office at the centre of the organisation.
Your main duties will include:
- Comprehensive diary management
- Organising meetings
- Managing email and postal correspondence, drafting responses
- Administering Council and Board of Trustees including preparing agendas, collating papers, taking minutes and overseeing the introduction of a Board of Trustees structure
- Line managing the Office Administrator
- Responding to or re-directing ad hoc written and telephone enquiries
- Organising domestic and international travel including visas
- Maintaining the filing system
- Covering the Office Administrator / EA to CEO in their absence
- Booking meeting rooms, catering and AV
- Maintaining contact lists
- Assist with budget management
The successful candidate will have:
- PA/EA/Office Manager experience at a senior level
- Excellent communication skills; both written and oral
- Experience of drafting correspondence to a high standard
- Good organisational skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to use your own initiative and make appropriate decisions
- Ability to prioritise a full workload, work to demanding deadlines and remain calm under pressure
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
- A confident and pleasant manner when dealing with individuals at all levels
- Proficient experience in all Microsoft packages
