Our client a leading animal charity has a new vacancy working for their Veterinary Director.

The role will be to provide professional support to the Veterinary Director and wider veterinary team ensuring the smooth running of the office and the appropriate control of diverse administrative projects.

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills including typewriting at 50wpm;
  • Experience of accurate minute taking
  • Proven track record in a senior PA or similar role;
  • Some experience of grants management (desirable)
  • Providing administrative duties in a veterinary or welfare type of environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to determine priorities, manage a heavy workload and change direction at short notice as required;
  • Self motivated and accustomed to using own initiative;
  • Discreet with experience of dealing with confidential matters;
  • Willing and flexible;
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with experience of drafting professional correspondence on behalf of others and handling letters of complaint with sensitivity;
  • Able to communicate with people at all levels
  • A bright personality, a sense of humour and good social skills;
  • Organise events and meetings in the UK and overseas. Plan and send invitations and work with colleagues in other departments to make all the necessary arrangements.
  • Control a variety of administrative projects which require careful planning and co-ordination.
  • Ordering lunches and arranging refreshments for meetings as required
  • Type any letters, memos or reports required, quickly and accurately and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Prepare documents for meetings, and distribute to attendees by the date specified.
  • Keep both paper and electronic filing systems up to date and well organised.
  • Keep up to date with current projects involving or affecting the department.
  • Attend events outside the office as required. On occasion, working outside normal contracted hours may be necessary to ensure continuity and maintenance of the department.
  • Work on specific projects and tasks and any other duties as required.

An experienced PA with a keen interest in animals would be ideal - this role is a busy one but with a rewarding workload and genuinely nice team
