What do you look for in a nominee?
We are on the lookout for nominees with genuine passion for the profession and love for what they do. This year, we are particularly interested to hear about those who have gone above and beyond in spite of the pressures of a global pandemic and ongoing changes to the way we work. If you’re a PA working in healthcare or an Office Manager who has enabled long term remote working for their team, we want to hear from you.
How did last year’s winners stand out?
Last year, our judges were blown away by the broad scope of Legal PA of the Year Tanya Jennings' role which included the unique challenge of negotiating an office move during a global pandemic. Meanwhile, Bethany Burns wowed our judging panel with her contributions and commitments in her role as Personal Assistant to the Co-Founder of Scottish multinational brewery and pub chain BrewDog, and was ultimately named our 2020 PA of the Year.
What can I expect from the interview stage?
The interview stage is not as nerve-wracking as it sounds, but don’t just take our word for it! Here’s how Bethany Burns described her interview: ““What a lovely experience! Sarah EL-Doori and Susanna Tait were a delight to talk with, and made what is otherwise a faceless process, a really meaningful interaction, which I really appreciated.” Click here to find out more about the interview stage of the PA of the Year Awards.
Will there be an awards ceremony this year?
There will be an awards ceremony this year, however we do not yet know whether it will be a virtual celebration like last year or our usual event at The Ivy. We are currently working out how we can deliver our prestigious awards and will share details when they are finalised.
What will the prizes be?
This year, our fabulous prizes include gift cards and tasting menus at some of London's top restaurants.
Are there any costs associated with nominations or attendance at the PA of the Year Awards?
Submitting a nomination for the PA of the Year Awards does not entail any costs and neither does attending the ceremony. The entire event is free of charge.
How much experience must nominees have?
The duration of a candidate’s experience is not a factor that we consider when choosing winners. Susanna Tait, PA of the Year Awards judge and Chief Executive of event sponsor Tay Associates, says “it doesn’t matter where or for whom the individuals have worked or for how long. It’s about the unique experiences they have encountered along the way.”
How many nominations do you usually get?
Last year we received around 500 nominations for the PA of the Year Awards.
How many of those are shortlisted?
We usually shortlist 15-20 nominees for the awards, depending on each category.
Who is invited to the awards ceremony?
Usually we invite the shortlisted nominees and their bosses to the ceremony.
When do nominations close?
Nominations for the PA of the Year Awards 2021 close on Friday 10 September, so get yours in now!
Do you accept international nominations?
Unfortunately we are not currently able to accept international nominations.
