PA of the Year: What are we looking for?
Susanna Tait is the Chief Executive of Tay Associates, sponsors of SecsintheCity’s PA of the Year Awards. Susanna has 15 years experience recruiting EA/Business Support staff to London’s most prestigious employers and she has been on the judging panel for the awards for over 6 years. In this interview, we wanted to find out what Susanna looks for in the winners and what those shortlisted can expect from the interview process.
1. What can the individuals who are shortlisted expect from their interview?
The interviews give the shortlisted candidates the opportunity to express, in their own words, what they love about their role. We don’t want to catch anyone out, we want the individuals to bring to life their unique experiences.
2. Do the judges use CVs during the process?
We don’t use CVs during the process because we have the nominations to qualify relevant experience and the rest is about what the person brings to their role; it doesn’t matter where or for whom the individuals have worked for or for how long. It’s about the unique experiences they have encountered along the way. We want to meet the person behind the paper and learn about motivations, inspiration, challenges and the achievements that are meaningful to them.
3. What qualities do you look for in the winners?
The qualities I look for in the winners are a genuine passion for their profession and someone who through the challenges, hurdles and problems to solve, genuinely loves what they do.
4. What do you enjoy most about judging the SecsintheCity PA of the Year Awards?
What I love most about the awards is that the aim is to promote the credibility of the role of the PA.
