Front of House / Venue Manager

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced manager to work in a lovely bright modern environment with a small personable team and clients whilst our current manager goes on maternity leave.  The Front of House/Venue Manager will manage our corporate reception and room bookings as well as looking after our members and a wide variety of professional visitors providing a seamless, courteous customer service delivery with the support of two Front of House Co-ordinators.

We are the Institution of Structural Engineers; the world’s leading professional body for qualifications and standards in Structural Engineering, based in Farringdon/Old Street.

With an average of 40-60 bookings/events per month taking place in our auditorium, meeting rooms or members’ area we will be looking for someone with excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and impeccable customer service to ensure each meeting runs smoothly and increases our opportunities for repeat business.  This will only be possible through excellent management of the Front of House team, co-ordination with our Facilities team along with your sound health and safety, fire and first aid and booking system knowledge.

Being frequently at the receiving end of customer enquiries for bookings, coupled with the fixed term nature of this contract, we expect the Front of House/Venue Manager to be a fast learner and quickly understand the offerings and intricacies of the Institution’s venue to ensure its smooth running.

We are looking for someone who will commit to the duration of the contract and with experience of:

  • Managing a corporate reception and venue with a capacity of 150 delegates per day ideally gained in a corporate headquarters.
  • Managing clients and operationally delivering their venue booking from quote to customer satisfaction questionnaire, including all associated administration.
  • Managing corporate catering contracts and smaller catering and hospitality offerings.
  • Supporting financial/commercial forecasting, managing budgets and overseeing the invoicing process.
  • Overseeing the booking management administration systems and running reports.
  • Line managing, mentoring and developing a small team.

You’ll work hard, but in return you’ll receive an excellent benefits package including flexi-time, pension, private healthcare, life assurance, interest-free annual season ticket loan, childcare vouchers and more.  You’ll be working with an enthusiastic, talented team in modern open-plan offices close to Old Street/edge of the City.

You can find a job description and further information about the role in the attached candidate pack.
