A charity start-up aimed at raising global awareness and significant “game changing” funds to help people with brain injury. Their goal is to raise money for specialist nurses and fund clinical and scientific research into brain repair. The founder and chairman is a globally known actor and she is personally committed to the cause. This is the start of her lifelong philanthropic work. She will use her profile to highlight this major health issue that effects over 1.7m people annually in the US, and accounts for almost 2,000 hospital admissions in the UK every day.

The charity is currently in the set-up phase, and will be funded by private donations until launch when global fund raising will start. The charity is currently registered in the UK, and the US entity is filing for IRS status. Work is underway to build a global advisory board to link the two legal entities together as they will operate externally as one. The founder has a CEO who uses a circle of trusted advisors, including blue chip lawyers and accountants, a board of Trustees and freelance agency and administrative support.

The charity will be officially launched in 2018 as part of a larger global event. Plans for the organisational build and recruitment are fluid at the moment. They anticipate working flexibly until launch and for some time afterwards until they reach critical mass. Their aim is to be fully operational with a small global full-time team by Q1 2019.

The CEO is working to a deadline of August 2017 to have the multiple work streams operational. This requires building a small team to help execute the program under her leadership.

The first in-house position is an Operations Co-ordinator to share the work and support the CEO’s direction and vision. The intent for 2017 is that by working as a team they will move the charity from the current due diligence process into the development phase prior to launch.

This position will suit an ambitious, talented and socially aware campaigner who is motivated by being involved from the start of a new not for profit and has the skills to help co-create and implement:

  • The transformation of the strategy into a fully formed business plan
  • An effective day to day working structure including advisors and freelancers
  • The operational processes
  • The weekly program of activities
  • The communications plan across the wide range of stakeholders. These include people in the neurological, medical and academic world, people in entertainment, people in leading tech and corporates and people working in leading cause agencies, philanthropic investors, global foundations and HNWIs.

Hours:                  Part-time.  Flexible working across time zones necessary, flexible days/hours open for discussion.  Likely to become full time (freelance) before the end of 2017.
