Media and Communications Officer, 6 month FTC, Central London
Someone in the office is heading of on maternity leave and they need you immediately to support them in the events department! Working with on of the Royal Colleges in London, this is a chance to get involved in upcoming events and functions and be part of a supportive and sociable team who prides themselves on excellence and an untarnished reputation.
Who will you be working for?
Based in Central London, you will be working with one of the most respected and recognised Royal Colleges in London. The company is steeped in history with its beginnings dating back to the 17th Century. What does the role consist of?
This role is to provide proactive media and general internal/external communications support to the communications function. You will be part of the Communications and External Affairs Directorate, which is responsible for a range of activities, including member engagement, media relations, internal communications, digital communications, publications, stakeholder engagement, policy and public affairs.
- deliver media opportunities
- answer media enquiries
- undertake general communications activities
- promote college news through relevant communication channels
- draft media releases and statements, media enquiry logging and media evaluation
- drafting e-newsletters
- deliver content cross web-based media platforms and social media channels
What will the successful candidate be like?
- experience of writing media released and articles on health subjects with the ability to translate scientific information for a lay audience
- strong news sense
- proven experience of working in a press office/newsroom or media work
- excellent knowledge of UK national and regional media
- experience of implementing media plans and campaigns
- demonstrable experience and interest in health communications and an awareness of issues that may affect the college
