A talented Warehouse Operations Manager is required by our client that supplies FMCG products to major retail & distribution clients around the world. The position is based at the company's head office, situated in Telford and is critical to our client's ongoing success. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient receipt, storage and despatch of parcel/palletised goods from two warehouse sites in the West Midlands and delivery to national retail and trade customers through third party parcel and pallet networks. You will also ensure effective inventory control within a modern Warehouse Management System. You will lead both strategic development and continuous improvement of the existing warehouses and plan the re-location to and consolidation into a single purpose built warehouse with continuation of new processes and systems for the winter of 2017. Line management responsibilities encompass c40 staff across the existing and future facilities.

• Day to day planning and operational management of all warehouse activities including goods-in, storage, inventory, picking and despatch.
• Day to day management, monitoring of and negotiation with the 3pl carriers to ensure target service levels and costs are achieved
• Focus on developing processes and procedures to breed a culture of constant improvement
• Provide guidance, support, instruction and training for the development of skills, knowledge and awareness relative to operational requirements.
• Ensure a strong warehouse team is developed through effective staff coaching and development.
• Ensure planning the seamless transition from 2 sites to a single warehouse/DC
• Ensure health and safety of all warehouse staff including undertaking risk assessments and investigating near miss incidents or accidents
• Ensure all training is adequately undertaken for warehouse roles including FLT training
• Ensure optimisation of warehouse space through effective planning, layout and utilisation
• Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with warehouse management system.
• Maintain a strong focus on HR responsibilities through effective staff coaching and development, recruitment, counselling, discipline, appraisals etc.
• Ensure all KPI's are maintained in order to maintain and improve supply chain performance
• Responsible for all aspects of site maintenance and negotiating contracts to support all site facilities

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a strong warehouse and distribution background. You will have experience in successfully managing teams of about 20+ and evidence of team improvement. In addition to excellent day to day management and operations experience you will also have a strong strategic focus Change management, transitioning and project management skills are essential Your experience and outlook will also contain a string emphasis on continuous improvement Excellent customer service will be at the centre of all that you do A strong commitment to health and safety is absolutely essential Strong stakeholder, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills are key to success You will also have excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
