Membership Secretary, £30-33k, 1 year FTC, Old Street

The current Membership Secretary is due to go on maternity leave (we wish her all the best!) and we are looking for someone to begin a 1-year fixed term contract. With a team of up to 30 to support, this organisation needs a smart and experienced Membership Secretary to provide extensive administrative support for the organisations members. Working with unique and niche non-for-profit organisation in Central London, this is a great opportunity working with a fantastic and lively team.

Who will you be working for?

Based in the exciting and innovative area of Old Street. This area attracts a great number of IT and start-up companies. Inspiration, ambition and community is rife in this section of the city and you'll be amongst some of the most passionate people in London. Plenty of restaurants and bars to replenish your nutrition after a hard days work!

The organisation is a non-for-profit organisation that has operational standards on par with large corporations. They provide the maritime industry on leading expert advice, information and assistance on marine disasters and issues. Their work is varied, current and challenging making this organisation one of the most interesting within its sector.

What does the role consist of?

This role is to maintain accurate record of membership details throughout the year, liaise with the members and insurance clubs and handle all membership enquiries and applications.

  • Create records for new members and enter all their details onto the membership database
  • Send membership record forms and post information packs and joining packages to members.
  • Deal with envelopes returned due to change of address, process, corrections, and resend as appropriate
  • Ensure database renewal lists and forms are generated and despatched for renewals
  • Generate annual due invoices
  • Deal with enquiries and respond to membership issues
  • Prepare and check list of new members and tankers for Board Meetings

What will the successful candidate be like?

They are looking for someone who is a strong database administrator, preferably from a membership organisation that can handle the pressure and volume of dealing with vast data. Strong computer and excel experience is essential as well as dealing with complex data. This is a full time role lasting from 12-14 months and core working hours are 9am-5pm.
