Account Manager

One of our hugely successful global clients in Corporate Communications are looking for a terrific Account Manager who is comfortable in day to day client contact and in managing client relationships where appropriate. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the senior team members in giving day to day financial and business communications counsel and managing junior resource to deliver outstanding client results. There will also be a significant involvement in the wider business and its commercial objectives including new business marketing and client development, where an incisive mind will be an advantage.

The Account Manager will be responsible for coordinating media and analyst relations activity. You will develop knowledge and understanding of the media, communication and business skills to run accounts. You will be fully participating in the development of new business proposals and pitch presentations. You are required to work well under pressure, providing a high quality day-to-day delivery of client programme, ensuring efficiency and cost effectiveness. The right candidate needs to have financial PR experience and be strong at drafting and summarising complex situations for internal and external audiences. They also need to be able to link financial communications to wider reputation management issues and corporate communications activity working effectively across the Financial Services proposition. This position would give the candidate the opportunity to develop advisory skills and growing awareness of regulatory best practice, together with extending their City relationships and network.

Duties are as follows:

  • Comfortable in day to day client contact and manages relationships where appropriate
  • Passionate about Financial Services and keen to join a dynamic, ambitious team
  • Provide advice and guidance to clients
  • Ensure efficient, high quality day-to-day delivery of client programmes
  • Drive and coordinates media and analyst relations activity
  • Draft written materials that are well-informed and audience appropriate, requiring minimal amends from senior team members
  • Comfortable working within a team and able to manage junior resource effectively
  • An increasing understanding of the media, communication and business skills needed to run accounts
  • Fully participates in the development of new business proposals and pitch presentations
  • Able to post on social media for clients with minimal supervision
  • Plans and manages the organisation of client events
  • Recognises a crisis situation and knows how to escalate response
  • Knowledge and understanding of digital communications 
  • Able to draft straightforward regulatory press release to a good standard
  • Outline understanding of how to read financial statements
  • Able to organise and run a results day
  • Able to handle RNS announcements and manage sign off process
  • Developing advisory skills and growing awareness of regulatory best practice
  • Able to judge a material price sensitive issue and seek senior counsel
  • Able to conduct feedback reports
  • Comfortable pitching to certain media
  • Proactively looks for opportunities to add value to day-to-day client programmes
  • Understanding of financial controls and budgeting procedures on the accounts worked on
  • Manages time effectively, recognises when clients are being over-serviced and escalates this to account lead
  • Networks and acts as an ambassador outside of the organisation
  • Share responsibility for the development of more junior team members including taking the time to coach on-the-job and proactively flagging areas for development with line managers on an on-going basis
  • Adopts a work style that is positive and motivated and focused on quality delivery at all times
